Shakarean Hutchinson was born, raised, and still considers the Lowcountry of South Carolina home. She is an alumnus of the College of Charleston. She was the winner of the 2017 Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers. She is a MFA Candidate in Fiction at Cornell University and is working on novel and a collection of short stories. Her work has been published in Joyland Magazine. She currently lives in Ithaca, NY but misses the south everyday.
